AS9100 Software
AS9100 software is an umbrella term covering platforms used by aerospace suppliers to achieve and sustain AS9100 Rev D certification. The category overlaps with QMS, ERP and document control, and selection is rarely a single-product decision.
What AS9100 software covers
AS9100 Rev D extends ISO 9001 with aerospace-specific clauses around configuration management, product safety, counterfeit parts prevention, special processes, risk-based thinking and first article inspection. AS9100 software addresses some or all of these clauses with auditable workflows and evidence packaging.
Sub-categories
The market splits into three practical sub-categories:
- Enterprise QMS platforms with AS9100 process packs (ETQ Reliance, MasterControl)
- ERP-embedded quality modules (SAP, IFS, Plex)
- Standalone audit, document and CAPA tools used by smaller suppliers
Selection criteria
Procurement teams typically score AS9100 software shortlists against:
- Direct mapping to AS9100 Rev D clauses
- Supplier quality and counterfeit parts workflows
- Auditor-ready evidence packaging
- Integration with ERP and PLM
- Total cost of ownership for the supplier tier
